I remember looking out the window of our now packed up home in Alaska and seeing a double rainbow. Boy, I sure did not want to leave that place. And what if Minot wasn’t the right choice for us. I could only rely on God to know what was best for us. So far, He hadn’t let us down.
And then the phone rang. In between supervising movers, watching the girls and keeping track of the cats, I grabbed the receiver.
“May I speak to Victoria please?”
Oh, Jeez. What a time for a telemarketer to call.
“This is she.”
“Hi Victoria, this is Matt from the Minot Daily News. We received your résumé and want to know how soon until you will be here.”
Oh my gosh. I was getting a freelance job. Matt and I chatted and he even asked me if I wanted to work full-time. I did not at that point, but I was really interested in writing for the newspaper. I set up a time to come see him when we got into town and hung up.
That was the beginning of a really great move. A double rainbow and a job offer before I ever left Alaska. That was the first and last time that happened in my career.
