As I reflected on the events of Sept. 11, 2001 during the 15th anniversary I wondered out loud how our nation came to the place we are today.
Fifteen years ago, people of faith from all denominations and religions came together on a stage in New York City to pray for our nation and the world. Now, it is almost a crime to be a Christian or to say the word “God.” We’ve become so politically correct that we cannot even call each other out when we recognize a sin in one another.
I wanted to remind myself about a nation who forsakes God and the direction we need to be taking. So I went right to the source, the Bible. For the next several weeks, at least until the election in November, I would like to share a verse on nations and ask that you join me in praying for our nation, our world, the election and ourselves as we try to discern what God wants from us personally and corporately.
To borrow a line from Donald Trump (no endorsement intended), let’s make America great again through God and prayer.
Today’s verse: Genesis 12:2 — “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you.”
