The adventures of an Air Force spouse

One more move

Joint Base Langley Eustis LogoWell, it’s that time again. We have a new assignment. We are moving to Langley AFB, Virginia. I’ve never been to that part of the country so I am excited about the location, but I was hoping we would retire out of Biloxi and start a new chapter in our life.

Everyone is telling me I will love Langley. I know the area is very historic and quite beautiful. It is near colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Norfolk. The Army, Navy, and Air Force all have a presence in the region, so that should be fun.

The Good Chaplain will be the Senior Joint Base Chaplain  since Langley is joint with Ft. Eustis, an Army post. We’ll get to work more closely with our Army counterparts and see how things work on that side. I am looking forward to that as well.

As far as leaving Biloxi, well let’s just say I am not sad about leaving the area. Biloxi is nice enough. I just never fell in love with it. I will miss the people, however. I hope Virginia is far enough south that the people are still friendly. I might even miss the south’s way of doing business – you don’t, you visit. It takes longer, but you get to know people.

The Good Chaplain is excited to go to an operational base with fighter jets. He’s always loved them. His first assignment at Pease AFB, New Hampshire as a chaplain candidate had F-111s. His last base will have F-22s. Appropriate, I think.
